USA School of Computing Teaching Cybersecurity at NSA and NSF GenCyber Summer Camps

最色网 30 students are attending the University of South 最色网鈥檚 School of Computing to learn from the experts during the GenCyber Summer Camp sponsored by the U.S. National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation.

The second of the two camps began Monday, July 20, under the direction of School of Computing faculty members. The participants, all rising 9^th graders at Davidson High School, are learning cybersecurity and cyber problem solving while three of their teachers are gaining knowledge and skills in cybersecurity and how to design curricula to train the next generation of cybersecurity workers. The camps are free for participants.

鈥淭hese students are among the top 10 percent of students in the Mobile County Public School System,鈥� said Les Barnett, director of USA's Center for Forensics and Information Technology. 鈥淢y personal reason for starting these camps is that workforce development is essential to economic development, and there are roughly three jobs for every graduate with a degree in computing. At the School of Computing, we meet that demand with five undergraduate degrees, plus graduate and doctoral degrees in computing.鈥�
